How to Prepare My Child for Private Piano Lessons?
Many Los Angeles families are looking to sign up their young children for private piano lessons. How do you prepare your child for private piano lessons? At Music Teacher LA, we are getting many requests, especially at the beginning of the new school year. The typical inquire begins with ‘I would like to try piano lessons for my child and see if he or she will like them.’
Parents can prepare their kids for formal lessons by introducing them to music early on. What can you do to improve your child’s interest in future music lessons? Attending local concerts increases your child interest in learning about musical instruments and trying to play on them.
Another way to prepare is to sing nursery songs with children.
If you have an instrument at home, expose kids to a piano or a keyboard. Let them seat on the piano bench, touch the keys gently, press the keys, and then listen to the sound. I personally encourage parents to allow kids to doddle at the piano. Doodling daily will improve the chances that your child will continue doodle and practice his piano daily when he will turn 4-5 years of age and will be ready for formal lessons.
Furthermore, give your child an opportunity to explore the sounds it makes. Let him or her sing, clap, press piano keys, shake maracas and so on. Lastly, discuss and listen to the sounds around us.
All these stimulations will unable your kids to develop appreciation for music and discover their musical interests. Such children will thrive in music lessons with our highly professional and engaging Los Angeles piano teachers!
